Dinner in Poland
So, after getting royally spanked by ripoff Ryanair I finally got to Krakow at 10am.
I got to my b&b with ease and was shown my room which was up 6 flights of Crickety stairs. I fell asleep for two hours.
After which, I spent the day wandering the streets of old town Krakow. I love this place, it really is as nice as they say it is. Old buildings everywhere and many alleyways to explore.
I had my dinner, above, at about 9pm. It is smoked salmon and potato pancakes. Couldn't think of anything more delicious. I devoured it and washed it down with an alcohol zealous White Russian.
I now find myself in a bar which is underground. There's about 10 people here including me. The DJ has so far let loose Abba, Pet Shop Boys, Spice Girls and the YMCA. The only reason I've found it bareable is because the barman, who also likes to travel alone, is pouring me vile (yet cheap) drinks.
As I'm writing this, at least another 10 people have walked in and the DJ has upper the ante by playing "I wear sunglasses at night"
I fear this is going to be a punishing evening.
Sam, krakking up in Krokow
Slumped in the heat
The conference was over and I was staying an extra day in Krakow (because it worked out cheaper to stay an extra night and get an easyjet flight than to pay for a non-budget flight).
I went on a walking tour of the city. One of our stops was the castle on Wawel Hill (I have previously shown a photo of the outside of the Cathedral as well as the hill from a distance).
So, this castle dates back to the 16th century and was a product of the Renaissance. We had a little tour inside (alas no photography allowed) and it was rather nice. Plenty of large rooms with lots of light and air.
A couple more pics in my stream.
